Draw the Line and Make Your Point: the Pencil and the 21st Century
(June 2013 – May 2014)
This exhibition offered unique ways of looking at the Pencil, including unlikely objects made from pencils, a participatory pencil launcher interactive exhibit, and a display of a smattering of pencils from around the world. A lively visual history recounted the invention and evolution of the pencil, a display about a unique contemporary pencil artist, and an ode to Walden author Henry David Thoreau’s involvement with the pencil was also on view, along side many other pencil-related ephemera and oddities. At the opening day celebration June 2nd from 3-6pm, itinerant performer Adam Cook and local vaudville revivalists Rose Friedman and Justin Lander played live music, and local animator/filmmaker Meredith Holch presented a new paper movie.
